Facade program grants awarded
Portales, NM – March 20, 2017 – Three downtown business owners are recipients of the Façade Grant Improvement Program according to Portales MainStreet Executive Director Sandy Vigil, “This year Portales MainStreet received seven applications for this reimbursement grant program. This shows that there is a need downtown and stakeholders see the value of keeping their property fresh and up-to-date”. With seven applications submitted totaling more than $6,500 in request and $20,000 in overall project estimates, $3,000 was awarded to businesses complete improvements by June 2017.
The business to receive this grant are Pebsworth Insurance, Robert’s TV & Appliance and Your Yoga Place. “As a business and property owner there are always improvements that need to be made. Last year we updated all the lightening inside the store. This spring we will replace our signage and lighting that is over 14 years old thanks to Portales MainStreet and the sponsors of this program” said Robert Encinias owner of Robert’s TV & Appliance who applied for the grant because he is constantly working on improvements for this building. According to Encinias he had been thinking of updating his signs outside and one day Vigil came to talk to him about the Façade Grant Improvement Program and thought the timing of this opportunity was perfect.
Portales MainStreet Is excited for the diversity of businesses able to take advantage of this grant from Your Yoga Place, a fresh new business, to the established businesses in downtown, there is a need for improvements to our building. This program is only happening from our great sponsors of US Bank, Wells Fargo, and Eric D. Dixon, Attorney and Counselor at Law.
Since its inception, the Portales MainStreet Program works to develop the Downtown Historic Portales District, into a beautiful, restored, and rejuvenated area that is inviting and encouraging to the development of current and future businesses through professional and cultural endeavors.
