• Annual Banquet rescheduled for March 3

    January 11, 2022
The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet has been rescheduled for 6 p.m., March 3 at Little Old, Little New Venue at 1354 N. Chicago (U.S. 70) in Portales.

The change from the CUB Ballroom was necessitated by a tightening of the seating rules in state-owned facilities due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. Without any certainty of when those rules will be lifted the banquet committee felt it best to utilize a private facility and a delayed date.

According to Chamber Executive Director Karl Terry, those who have paid reservations will have those transferred to the new date. Refunds can be arranged if necessary.

“The Little Old Little New Venue is an outstanding facility created by Kelly and Sheryl McClary who also operate Portales Concrete,” said Terry.  “This will give us a chance to showcase what they’ve done with this facility and still have an amazing banquet.”

The banquet celebrates the successes of the 2021 year and officially installs the 2022 president. This year’s theme is “Back to Work in the Roaring ‘20s.” People can come in 1920’s era dress if they like but it isn’t necessary to dress in your zoot suit and flapper outfit.

This year the banquet will also feature a centerpiece contest that will be judged by ballot. Even if you didn’t reserve a full table for your company you can participate. Just let the Chamber staff know if you intend to participate, it’s not required but it should be fun and there could be prizes.

The evening will start with a cash bar of wine and beer from Enchantment Vineyards with a Jazz ensemble from ENMU as entertainment. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. by Flavours Catering by Sodexo. The menu will include salad, boneless beef short ribs braised to perfection with shallots, carrots and leeks along with oven roasted red potatoes and vegetable medley. Dessert will be a cannoli.

Presentation of the annual awards will follow dinner. Six businesses are slated to receive Harley & Faye Borden awards this year. Other awards are the President’s Award (Business of the Year), Warm Heart of the Sunbelt Award, Workhorse of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

Tickets are available at the Chamber 100 S. Ave. A, by phone (575) 356-8541 or online at CLICK HERE Cost is $35 each or $250 for a table of eight.
