• Heritage Days moving to July

    April 25, 2022
Heritage Days in Portales is officially moving to the third weekend in July. That means the 37th annual event will be held July 15-16 at City Park this year.

“Last year’s event that was moved to that weekend was a huge success,” said Roosevelt County Chamber Executive Director Karl Terry. “We had our best car show ever with close to 100 entries and the Heritage Days Fun Run and Street Dance were both the best ever. Because of that and a full slate of area events in June, our events committee decided to permanently move the event to mid-July.”

The event officially gets under way on Friday, July 15 with the Heritage Days Street Dance in the Memorial Building parking lot. Some of the festival’s food vendors will open at 6 p.m. and the dance runs from 7-10 p.m. Class reunions are encouraged to include the dance in their planning.

On Saturday, July 16 the day starts out with the 8 a.m. Heritage Days Fun Run/Walk followed by the 9 a.m. Heritage Days Car Show. At 10 a.m. the Heritage Days Parade starts at Second and Ave. O and the entertainment stage at the park begins at 11 a.m. Activities continue in the park until 5 p.m.

The Chamber is accepting vendor applications (outdoor only) as well as parade and car show entries at the Chamber office at 100 S. Ave A or online at portales.com. There is no admission charge at the park. For more information call (575) 356-8541
