• Portales is open for business!

That’s the message a new campaign being launched this month will emphasize. A new logo will urge folks to eat, shop and play local.

“We’ve gone through a long business shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic and people are eager to have life return to normal,” said Roosevelt County Chamber Executive Director Karl Terry. “Now that restrictions have been relaxed and more businesses are open we want to urge everyone to shop local and help our small businesses that have been severely affected by the pandemic.”

Terry says the campaign will employ signs in local businesses letting people know that they’re open for business. The campaign will also go online with Chamber businesses being invited to do a Facebook live or still photo that demonstrates what’s in store for customers at that business.

“Hopefully we’ll be sharing summer fashion, gardening supplies, amazing food and more online to tempt folks to get back inside our local businesses,” Terry said.

Chamber staff will be talking to our members over the next few weeks to distribute signs as well as washable cloth face masks and set up some Facebook shots in the business. If you’re excited and can’t wait, call the Chamber and we’ll come out right away.

Our businesses as well as community members need to continue to safeguard themselves as well as others from the virus by wearing a face covering in public and staying socially distanced at all times.

“I hope we can all get along, be respectful of our neighbors and do our best to follow the public health orders,” said Terry. “It’s the best way to ensure our businesses stay open and our people stay healthy.”
Portales and Roosevelt County businesses have lots to offer but they need your help to survive right now.
